Comment File name is bad and ambiguous. Yes, it's mostly used for these butterflies, but for the sake of full clarity I think you could do better. --Cart (talk) 21:58, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- Happy to rename it after the nom (e.g. "Red admiral butterfly in New York (11147).jpg"), or you're welcome to. — Rhododendrites talk | 22:05, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll fix it right away. Best to be done with it. --Cart (talk) 22:53, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Support A little bit of a shame about the damage to the wing but still a great photo Cmao20 (talk) 23:57, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
Support A butterfly image to be proud of considering its high quality and impressive detail. Wolverine X-eye 04:31, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Support Great. – No offence, but IMHO a hint to the flower in description, categories and (possibly) filename would be really helpful; after all it’s one of the central qualities of the photo that the Red admiral is sitting on a flower. Can anybody identify the plant, at least the genus or family? Looks like an Echinacea to me, but I am not an expert. – Aristeas (talk) 16:08, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Aristeas: Thanks. Updated. You are correct -- purple coneflower (a kind of echinacea). Popular perennial around here, and popular with butterflies it seems (I think this is my third FP nom with a butterfly on coneflower :) ). — Rhododendrites talk | 16:44, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! Have taken the liberty to add some categories and to rename your photo plus this nomination accordingly; I hope this is OK. Now the name is really not ambiguous anymore ;–). And I can confirm that purple coneflower is very popular with butterflies, I have seen the same thing here in Germany. – Aristeas (talk) 08:07, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
